Connect

To sustainably grow Massachusetts state parks, they must be safe, connected and accessible by bike, walking or public transit.

OUR GOAL

Bike and Walking Trails

There is no question that the state's single most successful grassroots efforts are from those calling for safer pedestrian and bicycle paths—groups like MassBike, StreetsblogMASS, Bike to the Sea, WalkMassachusetts, and LivableStreets. MPA is calling for connecting all state parks with bike and walking trails. So, if you can reach a state park by car, you should be able to get there by biking and walking.

Mass Parks For All Objective:

Inventory existing pedestrian and bike connections to state parks and public lands to identify potential connections where none exist.

  • Use on-the-ground community intelligence, ground truth existing walking and biking paths between state parks—test trails with well-publicized walks and bike trips. Over two years, complete an initial map of trails and identify areas needing improvements.

  • Begin the first MPA walk and bike trips in May of 2024.
